We're proud to have Todd Manning using LAG Guitars. His Arkane A3000BSH (the same as Charles Hedger's COF model) can be heard being put through its paces here.
Anihilated Bio:
Anihilated evolved from their early Punk roots into one of the UK's first ever Thrash Metal bands, back in the early 1980's, around the same time that Metallica and Slayer were making their mark on the brand new American Thrash scene.
After inclusions on various successful Punk compilation albums, Anihilated turned towards a much faster and metallic sound. Early gigs with this new material bemused their then mainly punk audiences, as back then, many people had not seen a thrash band before, and it was first thought that they were selling out. However, the realisation that Anihilated had not abandoned their ethics or social conscious, maintained their credibility within the punk community and they continued to develop their heavier, thrash sound.
In spring 1984 they disappeared into the studio for a week and emerged with what became known as the "Speedwell Sessions" which was their first actual release of Punk/Speed Metal/crossover. Positive reviews expanded the bands audience which saw a growing number of Metalheads attending their gigs and after another period of creative writing, they returned to the studio to record and release their renowned "Path To Destruction" EP, an early example of raw, British, thrash/metal/hardcore. The EP completely sold out, even knocking Madonna off the number one spot in the East of England record charts.
Although their musical style had changed, Anihilated upheld their punk ideals and beliefs, which at first, put off many of the major record companies as they only wanted bands with "Satanic Heavy Metal" persona's. It was a frustrating time for the band but they defiantly refused to give in to corporate pressures to change. Despite this initial setback, Anihilated's popularity continued to grow, features in fanzines/magazines and bootleg recordings around the world secured cult status and a huge international following. This and a number of high profile gigs, finally saw Anihilated achieve the recognition they deserved, and acknowledged as one of the main forerunners and innovators of Thrash Metal in the UK.
Their first full thrash album "Created In Hate", was described by Metal Forces Magazine as "the most important UK Thrash Metal release to date". The band spent the next year out on the road before returning to the studio to record "The Ultimate Desecration. This is widely regarded as their best studio album and is deemed by Marquee Records, to be "one of the finest UK Thrash Metal releases ever".
Anihilated were always better known on foreign soil than in their own home country and their international fanbase remained strong over the years particularly in Japan, the Ukraine, the South America's and across mainland Europe.
In 2008 mounting pressure from fans to reform became too strong to resist. After a 20 year break, Anihilated are recording a brand new album, they have backing of four different record companies, and have reconnected with their old faithful following. They are also building a brand new army of fans via the net, and through the media and have also been offered many prestigious gigs abroad and are looking forward to hitting some stages again in 2009/10.
Created In Hate and The Ultimate Desecration albums have been completely repackaged, remastered and re-issued on Brazilian label 'Marquee Records', they also include live bonus tracks. The Path To Destruction EP was re-issued on CD through Japanese labels 'In Crust We Thrash' and 'Aktiva//Protesta Rekordo' which included the "Speedwell sessions" of 1984. These have now completely sold out of all pressings. A brand new deal has been secured with Chinese label 'Area Death Productions' who are releasing a Chinese packaged version for distribution throughout China and across Asia. There will also be a run of special limited edition PTD box sets with various Anihilated merchandise, all of which will be out in July 2009.
Anihilated are being featured in a new book by highly acclaimed British music author Ian Glasper about the history of British Thrash Metal and Hardcore . "Trapped in a scene" is published by Cherry Red and will be out on September 7th 2009 but is already on pre-sale on Amazon
